MINISTERIAL STAFF
REV. AMBROZENE BENNET
My evangelism ministry is dedicated to sharing the love of Jesus Christ with our community and beyond. We believe in the unique story and purpose of every individual and strive to empower them to share their testimonies and spread the Good News of God.
Through outreach events, Bible studies, and personal invitations, we aim to create opportunities for people to encounter God’s love and experience transformation.
Join us as we strive to make disciples and fulfill the Great Commission (Matthew 28:19-20).
REV. NORMAN JONES, III
I serve as a Local Elder on the Metropolitan Ministerial Staff. I oversee the Acolyte Ministry and support Pastor Blanks as needed.
For over 20 years, I have been serving as a Vice Chairperson of the Community Renewal Team (CRT) Board of Trustees. CRT is the designated community action agency for Hartford and Middlesex Counties. Its mission is to empower individuals to achieve healthier and more economically stable futures by addressing challenges such as hunger, homelessness, unemployment, affordable housing, mental health, and poverty.
I consider my role on the CRT Board to be one of a referral ministry. If you need referral services, contact me through Metropolitan’s church office: (860) 527-7087.
REV. SHARLA D. WEAVER
It is a sacred honor to serve at Metropolitan AME Zion Church—a place of legacy, healing, and spiritual growth. This ministry helped me rediscover my voice and deepen my walk with God during a pivotal season in my life. I now serve through teaching, devotional writing, and creative spiritual formation, using my gifts to build resources that affirm and equip. My heart is to help others walk boldly in the freedom and purpose God has already prepared.
REV. BETTY LOU CARTHON
I am honored to serve as an Associate Minister at Metropolitan. With God's help, I strive to support Pastor Blanks and the Metropolitan family in any way I can.
REV. PATRICIA A. FLOWERS
I serve as an itinerate Elder in Zion, ordained by Bishop Alfred G. Dunston in 1987.
For 20 years, the Metropolitan Church Family nurtured my ministry and spiritual growth, which prepared me for pastoral ministry at Beulah A.M.E. Zion Church in Bristol, CT. I loved pastoring Beulah!
Today, I am once again being nurtured by the Metropolitan Family and ministries, and by a kind, loving, anointed pastor.
I currently serve as a Grant Administrator, a Coordinator of the Wednesday Night Prayer Call, and the Beyond the Walls Ministry. I also serve on the Vision Committee and with Metropolitan’s Security Team. I am always available to assist Pastor Blanks in the vital work of the church when needed.
